Louise Rogers, 92, of Valdosta died Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Presbyterian Home. She was born in Cogdell, Georgia on September 18, 1918 to the late David L. and Polly Ann Corbitt Geiger and had lived in Valdosta since 1937. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Northside Baptist Church that she loved very much. She worked for many years as a cashier and a loyal employee at many locally owned grocery stores. Mrs. Rogers was very active in her community at Presbyterian Home in Quitman and the family deeply appreciates the staff who cared for her at Presbyterian Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Cuba Parrish of Valdosta, son, DeWayne Rogers of Valdosta, two daughters and sons in law, Tenya and Gordon Shaw of Valdosta, Marla and Jerry Singletary of Atlanta, 11-grandchildren, 24-great grandchildren and 10-great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Rogers, great grandson, Dean Alger, brother, Braswell Geiger, sister, Alice Geiger and a son in law, Paul Parrish.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
