Louis Madison, 83, of Valdosta, died on Monday, June 7, 2021, at Fellowship Home after a brief illness. Louis was born on February 5, 1938, in St. Cloud, FL to the late Floyd & Mary Madison. He had lived in the Valdosta, GA area for the past three months. The youngest of seven children, he graduated from St. Cloud High School in 1956. He was the Homecoming King his senior year, having lost a bet with his buddies. Soon after high school, he met the former Barbara Roberts in St. Cloud, and they were married on November 29, 1957. They were married for over 58 years prior to her death in 2016. Soon after the wedding, Louis began work with Bell South working on telephones and lines in the late 1950’s. They soon moved to Hollywood, FL where they began their family. During his 40-year career with Bell South and AT&T, he moved from South Florida to Central Virginia, back to South Florida and then to the Orlando area, where he retired in 1999. While in Virginia, Louis was a member of the Optimist Club, a volunteer firefighter and volunteered as a certified EMT. He loved music, singing in church, playing the guitar and banjo. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Orlando.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, David & Patricia Madison of Valdosta and James & Sharon Madison of Saluda, NC; three grandchildren, Heather (& Stephen) McLeod of Barney, GA James Madison and Joshua Madison, both of Saluda, NC, and two great grandchildren, Davis McLeod and Walker McLeod, both of Barney, GA. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Mary Lou Madison of Groveland, FL and a sister and brother-in-law, Cathey & Wesley Allen of Clermont, FL. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Madison.
A brief memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orlando Union Rescue Mission 1521 W Washington Street, Orlando, FL 32805 .
