Louis Herring

Louis Herring, 89, of Lake Park, died on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Echols County, Georgia on January 17, 1932 to the late Donald Louis and Erby Mae Hughes Herring. Mr. Herring was a retired printer with Owens/Illinois and later retired from the City of Lake Park where he worked in the maintenance department. Mr. Herring had been a volunteer red coat with South Georgia Medical Center, loved to fish, make keychains in the shape of a cross, and was a long-time member of the Lake Park Historical Society. He was a member of Antioch Church but had attended Lake Park Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Herring of Lake Park; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Cheryl Herring of Lake Park and Albert and Mary L. Herring of Hahira; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kaye and David Ellis of Douglas; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Hutchinson.
A graveside service for Louis Herring will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Antioch Cemetery with Rev. Mickey Corbett and Rev. Wayne Sullivan officiating. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. McLane Lakewood.
