Louis E. (Buddy) Corbett, 87, of Lake Park died Saturday, January 25, 2020 at his home. He was born on August 29, 1932 in Echols County to the late Jesse (Tince) Corbett and Flora Carter Corbett. Mr. Corbett retired from Owens-Illinois in 1987 after working there 33 years as a maintenance planner and scheduler. After he retired he enjoyed tending his garden and farming. He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Corbett was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and was Church Clerk for twenty years. He was a member of the Alapaha Masonic Lodge, a member of the Lions Club, a lifetime member of the Echols County Historical Society, former Echols County Commissioner and Overseer of Carter Cemetery.
He is survived by his four sons and daughters in law, Stanley and Angie Corbett, Mark and Brenda Corbett, John and Rebecca Corbett. Ken and Kim Corbett, twelve grandchildren, Kelley Corbett, Shelby (Andrew) Conley, Ashli (Erik) Copeland, Jenna (Derek) Newham, Audrey (Jeffrey) Hughes, Justin (Brandi) Corbett, Jessica (Eric) Bolesta, Bo (Dolly) Corbett, Mac (Brianna) Corbett, Jared Corbett, Cody Corbett, Clay Corbett (fiancé Kristin), fifteen great grandchildren, sister, Gayle Adams and brothers, Chester Corbett and Charles (Evelyn) Corbett. Mr. Corbett is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of fifty nine years, Mary Lois Futch Corbett, granddaughter, Mandi Corbett, sister, Lawanna Mae Futch, brothers, Jesse (Mac) Corbett, Jr. and James (Dick) Corbett
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at eleven a.m. at Sardis Baptist Church with Reverend Garvie Nichols, Reverend Mickey Corbett, and Mr. Ron Adams officiating. He will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p. m. Monday at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
