Louis Anthony Mays, Sr.

October 7, 1956 — September 13, 2015

Louis "Big Lou" Anthony Mays, Sr., 58, of Valdosta, passed away at his residence on September 13, 2015 after an extended illness. He was born in New Orleans, LA on October 7, 1956 to the late Lee Joseph Rome and Susan Barrios Rome. For twenty years he worked as merchant marine that watched over cargo shipped all over the world. Later, he was a director with Bridges of Hope where he encouraged and mentored many that were struggling with addiction and other personal issues. He was known to be a no nonsense person who lived by "Laissez les bons temps rouler" or "let the good times roll".

Mr. Mays is survived by his son, Louis Mays, Jr. of Valdosta; his granddaughter, Leighlana Mays of Asheville, NC; his grandson, Wyatt Mays of Tifton, GA; a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Bobby Wells of Kenner, LA.

At this time there will be no services for Mr. Mays. A family memorial service will be held in Louisiana at a later date. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com
