Louie Albert Sims, 81, of Hahira, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2018 at Tift Regional Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on May 13, 1937 in Nashville, Georgia to the late Albert and Eunie Hendley Sims. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Georgia Power as an A/C and Electrical Engineer. He was a compassionate and loving person and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Mr. Sims attended the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Dooly County.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Sims of Hahira; his second wife, Runean Monroe of Ashburn; two daughters and a son-in-law, Michelle Sims of Hahira and Lome and Tracy McKee of Valdosta; two stepdaughters and their spouses, Kathy and Mike Watson of Hahira and Tina and Robert Toth of Middleburg, Florida; grandchildren, Will McKee, Trey McKee, Nickie McKee, Alisa Garcia, Kaitlyn Watson, and Ginger Toth; great grandchildren, Dakota Garcia, Jack Garcia, Alek Toth, and Aeric Toth. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Velma and Leonard Matthews.
Services for Louie Albert Sims will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 2:30 pm. In the chapel of the Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Sharpton officiating. The burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
