Lorraine Hoit

LORRAINE HOIT, 83, of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on November 27, 1925 in Herrin, IL, to the late Samuel Dennis and Millie Malana Jones Grady. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Boyd Hoit, Sr.

For ten years, she was employed in the Coffee County Dept. of Family and Children Services and Head Start. She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her seven children, Susan and husband Tommy McKinnon of Albany, Richard Grady of Commerce, Dr. Robert Hoit and wife Rose of Montgomery, AL, Dennis Grady of Valdosta, Charlotte and husband Lee Norris of Chattanooga, TN, Camille and Bob Graf of St. Louis, MO, Marianne and husband William Clements of Cumming; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Wade of Shelby, AL, Anna Minichiello of West Lebanon, NH, Margaret Landrum of Haleyville, AL, Sammie and husband Dewey Lee of Adamsville, AL.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Monday, January 19, 2009, at St. John the Evangelist Church with Father Dan O'Connell officiating. Burial will follow at 1pm in Satilla Memorial Gardens, Douglas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Hoit to "The Smile Train", Doctors for Cleft Palate Repair, P.O.
