Lorene Napier Parham

Lorene Napier Parham, 85, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Langdale Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Born in Valdosta on February 25, 1928, to the late David & Rosa Lee Royals Napier, she had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Parham grew up in Valdosta and graduated from Valdosta High School in the late 1940's. During high school, she started working at McCrory's Department Store downtown, and worked there for 40 years until the store closed. She went on to work for Woolworth's downtown for another 10 years before retiring. After retirement, Mrs. Parham served for several more years as a foster grandparent in the Valdosta City School system. She greatly loved people, being around them and serving them. She was a member of North Valdosta Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughter, Kaye Parham of Valdosta; her son and daughter in law, Jeff & Tammy Parham, of Valdosta; three grandchildren, T. J. Parham, Matt Parham, and Rylie Parham, all of Valdosta; and a great granddaughter, Amelia Cox of Homerville. Also surviving are her sister in law, Patricia Parham of Hahira, several nieces and nephews and special friends, Bruce & Delita Barwick. She is preceded in death by her husband Bascom Parham and three sisters.
A funeral service for Mrs. Parham will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Bruce Barwick will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, July 21, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
