Lola Leonard Goober, 80, of Valdosta died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Jesup, Georgia on April 11, 1929 to the late A.V. and Carra Brown Leonard and had lived in the Valdosta area since 1967. Mrs. Goober was a member of the Azalea City Church of God where she was active in Prime Timers. She loved her grandsons and her church.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Naomi and Jim Culpepper, two grandsons, Andrew Culpepper and Austin Culpepper all of Lake Park, her sister and brother in law, Bessie and Solomon Kersey of Valdosta, her brother and sister in law, E.C. and Berneice Leonard of Screven, Ga. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie J. Goober and a sister and brother in law, Verna and J. D. Williams of Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Azalea City Church of God with Pastor Brett Jarriel officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
