Lois Barker Cooper

Lois Barker Cooper, 77 of Valdosta died Monday, September 18, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on August 28 1929, in Lowndes County, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Lynwood Barker and Mary Sue Coker Barker Youmans. Mrs. Cooper was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John (Jack) Cooper of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jack Cain, Jr. of Valdosta; grandchildren, Gretchen and Brandon Cowart of Hahira and Jenna Cain of Valdosta;brother, J. P. and Kathryn Barker of Valdosta; a special aunt, Rachel Lofton of Valdosta; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie L. Barker.

Funeral services will be at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father John O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. There will be a Rosary at 6 p.m. on Wednesday with visitation following until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
