Linwood Porter

LINWOOD PORTER, 60, of Valdosta died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at his home. He was born on November 28, 1945 in Valdosta to the late Rev. A.J. and Mary Devara Tomlinson Porter and was lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mr. Porter was retired from the Southern Railway and a member of the Forrest Street Church of God. He had served as the Mens Fellowship Director and awarded Layman of the Year by the Church of God. He loved to fish and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Williams Porter of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Lisa and Jeff Collins of Lake Park, son and daughter in law, Don and Tammy Porter of Leesburg, his grandchildren, Daven Collins, Dawson Collins, Megan Collins, Tori Porter and Trista Porter, four sisters and three brothers in law, Lavenia and Charles Harrell of Phoenix, AZ., Betty Lewis of Douglas, Martha and John Miller of Ocala, Fla., Mary and Alton Corbett of Jennings, Fla., one brother and sister in law, Frazier and Hiwatha Porter of West Green, brother in law and his wife, Jesse Efford and Leota Culpepper of Valdosta, sister in law, Doris Porter of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Porter and Bernistine Culpepper, a brother, W. B. Porter, his mother in law whom he loved very much, Mamie Williams and his father in law, T. J. Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, February 10, 2006 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Jesse Ogden and Rev. Ryan Ogden officiating.
