USAF TSGT (Ret) Linwood C. (Butch) Pippen, 65, of Valdosta, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 6, 1950, in Wilmington, NC. Mr. Pippen was a member of Perimeter Road Baptist Church, he was known to be a fighter. He loved life, he loved his family and they loved him, and he accepted everyday as a gift from God.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Janice S. Pippen of Valdosta; four children, Patty Tyson (Mike) of Moultrie, Michell Lanier (David) of Ray City, Chasity Hansel (Billy) of Hahira, and Richard J. Pippen II of Valdosta; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Bernice Pippen of Lake Park; a half-sister, Betty Sargent of Wilmington, NC; a half-brother, Carl Borton of Winnabow, NC; and a nephew, Aaron Cruze (Meredith) of Eaton, OH. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Pippen; a grandson, Linwood C. Pippen II; and a sister Evelyn Cruze.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Pippen will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Perimeter Road Baptist Church, with Senior Pastor Brian Anderson and Senior Adult Pastor Charlie Fleetwood officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Satilla Memorial Gardens, Douglas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
