Linda Stalvey Plaire, 65, of Valdosta, passed away at home on Monday, January 11, 2010, after a long illness arising from ovarian cancer. She had been a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church since 1975. She practiced public accounting for forty-five years, beginning with Carl Sessions Accounting firm in 1963 and in 1979 she began her own practice which she continued until she became ill in 2007. Mrs. Plaire graduated from Hahira High School in 1962, where she was an outstanding student and basketball player. She loved her family and was devoted to her two beloved granddaughters. Mrs. Plaire was always kind, loving, graceful and beautiful. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, James ("Jimmy") C. Plaire; her son, Dr. J. Chadwick Plaire and his wife Kathryn of Henderson, Nevada; her daughter, Deena Plaire-Haas and her husband Bob of Albany, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Haley Plaire Haas and Mary Frances Plaire. Mrs. Plaire is also survived by two sisters, Shirley and Sonny Taylor of Hahira and Dianne Stalvey Wright of Valdosta; four brothers, Jimmy and Blondine Stalvey of Adel, Gerald Stalvey of Hahira, Johnny and Karen Stalvey of Hahira, and Jackie Stalvey of Hahira; and sister-in-law and her husband, Jeanette P. and Leland Clanton of Hahira, and sister-in-law Mable P. Credille of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, E. J. Stalvey and Clara Newton Stalvey, four brothers, Buford Stalvey, Lamar Stalvey, Harry Stalvey, and Lonnie Stalvey, and two sisters, Dorothy Stalvey Avera and Mary Helen Stalvey Blackwell.
Services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Morningside Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
