Linda McDonald Irby, 45, of Dallas, GA died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at her residence after a short illness. She was a resident of Dallas for three years and formerly of Thomasville and Eastman, GA. Mrs. Irby was born in Valdosta on February 13, 1964. She was a teacher, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Thomasville and graduated from Valdosta High School where she participated in the Marching Cats High School Band. Mrs. Irby worked at Dodge County High School with the Marching Chief's Dance Line. After receiving her education degree at Valdosta State University she taught at Brookwood School in Thomasville. She was a loving wife to Vaughn, a loving and devoted mother to Harrison and loved spending time with her family especially at St. George Island.
Mrs. Irby is survived by her husband, Vaughn Irby, one son, Harrison Irby of Dallas, her parents, Ernest and Marjorie McDonald of Valdosta, her father in law, Vaughn Irby, Sr. of Cordele, sister, Beth Northcutt of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Sandy and Steve Estes of Birmingham, AL, sister, Susan McDonald of Atlanta, brother, Buddy McDonald of Valdosta, sister, Carol McDonald of Valdosta, brother in law and sister in law, Richard and Sandy Irby of Lawrenceville, GA, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother in law, Gail Irby.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Charlie Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends Monday from six until eight p. m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.
