Linda Harrell Miller

Linda Harrell Miller, 55, of Valdosta died Sunday, November 6, 2016, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Douglas, Georgia on October 30, 1961. She had lived in Valdosta for many years. Linda was a member of the Valdosta North Rotary Club.
Mrs. Miller became involved with the Boy Scouts of America with her son as a Cub Scout leader. This involvement led to years of service with the BSA. For her volunteer service, Linda was awarded Scouting's highest honor, the Silver Beaver Award. Since 2000, Linda has served with distinction on the staff of the South Georgia Council serving in numerous roles. Over the course of her career, thousands of young people were introduced to Scouting and countless camps and events run to provide lifelong memories to the youth of our communities. A believer in training, Miller led numerous training courses for adult leaders and her passion for Scouting was evident as she trained thousands of Scout leaders.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Ed Miller of Valdosta; her son and daughter in law, Eric and Kendra Miller of Ocala, FL; her daughter, Shelby Miller of Valdosta; her mother, Evelyn Harrell of Hahira; brother and sister in law, Charles and Tina Harrell and nephew, Eli Harrell all of Hahira; mother in law, Judy Miller of Jeffersonville, IN; sister in law and brother in law, Theresa and Stephen Smith of Jeffersonville, IN; stepmother in law, Ruth Miller of Charlestown, IN. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Allison Rebecca Miller; her father, Grady Harrell and father in law, Tom Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, November 11, 2016 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church with Dr. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Hale Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
