Linda Faye Shiver Winters, 72, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully at South Georgia Medical Center on Monday, April 6, 2020. She was born in Valdosta on March 25, 1948 to the late Broaches “Shack” Shiver and Cleo Shiver. She graduated from Lowndes High School in 1966. It wasn’t long before she met Jimmy Winters, from Brooks County and they were married at Central Avenue Church of Christ on May 8, 1968. Then in the early 1970’s, Mrs. Winters started work as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. She retired from the USPS after 27 years. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and babysitting McKenzie every chance she could get. Mrs. Winters loved spending time with friends, fishing and working in the yard with her husband. She was a member of Francis Lake Baptist Church.
She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, Jimmy Winters of Valdosta; a son and daughter in law, Jody & Katrina Winters of Brooks County; a daughter and son in law, Jennifer & Keith Folsom of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Paige (Will) Folsom, Lacey (Ryan) Folsom, Blake Winters, Dillon Winters and Savannah Winters; a great granddaughter, McKenzie Pappas and a special furry friend, Sheba. She is preceded in death by her sister Jeannie Shiver Winters and a brother James Alfred “Bunky” Shiver.
A private family graveside service will be held this week at Welcome Hill Church of Christ Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held for extended family and friends when the Corona Virus restrictions are over. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Frances Lake Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
