Linda Faye Clancy, 63, of Hahira, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014, at South Georgia Medical Center after an unexpected illness.
She was born February 4, 1951 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, a daughter of the late Merton Thorpe and the late Bea Davidson Bergman. From 1971 to 1976, Linda honorably served in the U.S. Air Force as an Administrative Specialist and was stationed in England and Missouri. She later was Head Seamstress at S&K Famous Brands, Knoxville, TN, before becoming a truck driver with U.S. Express from 1991 to 2001. She was very proud of being a big truck driver and enjoyed traveling all over North America. In 1999 she moved to Valdosta to be closer to her family and has been a student at Wiregrass Technical College since 2009, where she studied Accounting.
Ms. Linda was of the Unity Church faith, and was very proud of being a recovering alcoholic for twenty-eight years.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and always bragged about them. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa A. and Chad Roe; and two grandchildren, Chance Roe and Destiny Roe, all of Valdosta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Raymond Thorpe.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 3800 Brookfield Drive, Valdosta.
