Linda Tarpley Day

Linda Tarpley Day, 83, of Valdosta, died on Monday, February 10th, 2025, at her residence. She was born on January 31, 1942, to the late Frank Leo Tarpley and Dora Viola Dyer Tarpley. A graduate of Fulton County High School in 1961, she worked in Atlanta at the Coastal States Insurance Company and Riches Department Store. While at Riches, she met her husband, John, and they married on April 14, 1962. While in Atlanta, their three children were born and the family moved to Valdosta in 1970. Linda was a homemaker who cared deeply for her family but she also maintained her regular Saturday appointment at the beauty shop. A huge Atlanta Braves baseball fan, she and John attended spring training each year down in Florida. Linda loved people and telling jokes. She also enjoyed painting, crafting, flowers, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, John Earl Day, Jr., children Denise (Jimmy) Yates of Valdosta, Dana (Bubba) Williams of Hahira, and John (Tonya) E. Day III of Clyattville; grandchildren Jamie (Joseph) Wilson of Hahira, Colby (Hailee) Yates of Valdosta, Brock (Taylor) Williams of Hahira, Kaylon Day of Atlanta, Austin Day of North Carolina, and Lindsey Day of Clyattville; four great-grandchildren, Mackey Yates, Macy Yates, Campbell Wilson and Millie Wilson; and brother Frank Tarpley. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jake Williams; brother, Joe Tarpley; and sisters Sandra Tolleson and Sherry Ann Manning.
