Lillie Mae Bussey Black

May 18, 1916 — June 24, 2006

LILLIE MAE BUSSEY BLACK, 90, of Clyattville departed this life on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Mrs. Black was born on May 18, 1916 in the Clayttville area of Lowndes County to the late Joseph Rush Bussey and Hattie Gertrude Anderson Bussey. On March 3, 1940 she married James Edward Black who preceded her in death. Mrs. Black was a graduate of Clyattville High School and Valdosta State College and was a retired teacher from Clyattville Elementary School where she taught for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Black were active members of the Clyattville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters in law, Ellis and Aletha Black of Clyattville, Larry and Faye Black of Clyattville, Bruce and Alacia Black of Lake Park, eight grandchildren, Dr. Larry Black of Quitman, Chance Black of Lake Park, Tonya Black Woody of Athens, Rebecca Black Lundy of Faith, NC., Spencer Black of Perry, Dana Black Rowland of Lake Park, Ferran Black of Echols County and David Black of Charlotte, NC., eight great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Nell Touchton of Lowndes County, sister in law, Wylene Zipperer of Clyattville, brother in law and sister in law, Charles and Emma Allen Black of Augusta and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Barry Adolphus Bussey, Joseph Hightower Bussey, Willie Eugene Bussey and Wendell Clarence Bussey.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at the Clyattville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mollie Danner and Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Burial will follow in the Benevolence Cemetery. Mrs. Black will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
