Lillie (Sissy) Cowart, 72, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Smith Northview Hospital. Born on May 30, 1936 in Eastman, she was the daughter of the late W. L. (Doc) & Lillian May. She was a textile worker and a member of Abundant Life Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, Jodell Cowart of Valdosta; one daughter, Sandy Jones Hailey of Calhoun; one son, Mike and Donna Jones of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Joseph Jones of Valdosta, Scott Brubaker of Calhoun, Samantha & Anthony Wilson of Cartersville; five great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John H. and Danna May of Lake City, FL. She was preceded in death by her son, Lynn Jones, brothers, Wayne May and Buck May; sisters, Cathline Hendrix and Irish May.

Services will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Abundant Life Church of God. Burial will follow at Mclane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Reverend Wayne Hughes will officiate. Mrs. Cowart will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
