Levon Sandlin, 71, of Valdosta died at his home on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. Born on April 14, 1935, in Echols County, he was the son of the late Joseph Long, Sr. and Cuba Carter Sandlin. Mr. Sandlin worked in Forestry Management for 43 years. A member of New Covenant Church he was a true family man. He loved and enjoyed his children, grandchildren and his work.
Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Billie Fielding Sandlin of Valdosta, daughters and sons in law, Sherry and Paul Zipperer, Suzanne and Frank Roberts of Valdosta, sons and a daughter in law, Larry Sandlin, Garry Sandlin of Valdosta, Brian and Julie Sandlin of Hahira; sisters in law and brothers in law, Gwen and Mark Turner of Valdosta, Jim and Sandra Fielding of Hahira, George and Kay Fielding of Lake Park, Ethridge and Doris Fielding of Waycross, seventeen grandchildren, brother and sister in law, Talmadge and Lillie Sandlin of Lake Park, a sister, Jean Howell of Lake Park, a sister in law, Gwynette Sandlin of Echols County. Mr. Sandlin was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Sandlin, Jr., sisters, Jessie Mae Corbett and Merle Hutto and a grandchild, Melanie Leigh Fielding.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Stephen and Pastor L.A. Joiner will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens.
