Lester Ribling, USAF SMSgt. (Ret.), 91, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Smith-Northview Hospital.
He was born April 5, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN, a son of the late John Earl and Georgette Lydia Peterson Ribling. Lester grew up in Beardstown, IL, entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and trained in Houston, TX as an Instructor in Synthetic (Link) Trainers. Through his thirty years career in the Air Force he had been stationed at Pope Field (Ft. Bragg), NC, Ladd Air Force Base, AK, Chanute Air Force Base, IL, Craig Air Force Base, NC, and Moody Air Force Base, GA, where he retired in 1972. In 1947 he was united in marriage with Mildred Bayless of Houston, she died June 29, 1995.
Mr. Ribling enjoyed being a Ham radio operator and camping, for ten years he was a Field Director for the National Campers and Hikers Association.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ribling of Valdosta.
