Leslie Hart Stiefel, 77, of Valdosta, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Valdosta on December 21, 1930, was a graduate of Valdosta State University, an employee of BellSouth for thirty two years, taught school in Adel, Moultrie, Lakeland and Open Bible Christian School of Valdosta for several years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for fifty one years where she was a member of the Chancel Choir and the Joy Givers Choir. Mrs. Stiefel was also a member of the Azalea City Women's Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Elydia Ann Stiefel of Valdosta, two sisters, Virginia H. Rykard of Hahira and Florine H. King of Bainbridge, nephews, Ronnie Rykard of Hahira, Curtis King (Vicki) of Americus, Roger Rykard (Wanda) of Donalsonville and David Vickers of Canton as well as a number of great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stiefel is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Lee and Florence Hazel West Hart, her husband, Robert Elliott (Bob) Stiefel, one sister, Blanche H. Vickers and one brother, William S. Hart.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008 at three p. m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Phil West and Reverend Ron Hatchett officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. She will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from five until seven p. m. Wednesday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
