Leslie E. Smith

Leslie E. Smith, 73, of Valdosta, died Friday, July 14, 2006 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Chicago, IL on October 13, 1932 to the late John A. and Sadie E. Warby Smith. Mr. Smith was formerly of Palatka and Perry, FL and had lived here for the past three years. He was self employed having operated hotels and rental property, and was the former owner of the Southern Inn in Perry, FL. Mr. Smith was a Marine veteran having served in the Korean Conflict, was of the Catholic faith, a member of the Moose Lodge in Perry, FL and the Veteran’s of Foreign War’s in Wildwood, FL.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Irene Smith, two step daughters and one step son in law, Missy &Michael Davis and Virginia Mixon, all of Valdosta; one sister and brother in law, Virginia Trout and Steve Demllo of Boynton Beach, FL; one brother and sister in law, George and Helen Smith of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah Davis, J. T. Davis, Ashley Bargeran and Abigail Mixon, all of Valdosta; two nieces and one nephew. He is preceded in death by three brothers, James Smith, Thomas Smith and Eugene Smith.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 17, 2006 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Sandlin officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.
