Leon Jay Andrews, 48, of Jennings, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. He was born August 1, 1957, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Glen and Orvelda Andrews. He lived in the New Sharon – Oskaloosa area until the family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa in 1970. He graduated in 1976 from Marshalltown High School and then joined the United States Navy. After serving four years in the military he settled in Washington State, where he owned and operated Andrews Trucking. Mr. Andrews moved to south Georgia in 2003 to be closer to family.
Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by a son, Brandon, his father, and his paternal and maternal grandparents. Surviving are his son, Robbie Andrews of Port Orchard, Washington, his parents, Bobby and Orvelda Snyder of Marshalltown, Iowa, brothers, Gary Andrews of Marshalltown, Parry Snyder of Silvis, Illinois, Bob Snyder of Memphis, Tennessee, sisters, Mrs. Dana (Karen) Montz of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. Timothy (Barbara) Peckat of Jennings, Florida, Kim Snyder of Bellville, Michigan, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him very much.
A memorial service has been set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Center Cross Community Church, 2860 Highway 41 S, Valdosta, where Mr. Andrews was a respected, member since moving to Georgia.
