Lenial Levine Carter Msgt (Retired)

March 13, 1920 — October 28, 2005

LENIAL LEVINE CARTER, MSGT(RETIRED) 85, of Valdosta died Friday, October 28, 2005 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness. He was born in Kentucky on March 13, 1920 to the late Jesse and Nora Scaggs Carter and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Carter retired from the United States Air Force after twenty two years of service having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was the owner of Quality Radiator Service in Valdosta from 1964 to 1984.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Judy and David Mathis of Valdosta, grandchildren, Dawn and Javon Longieliere, Kristen Mathis and other family members, Eric Mathis all of Valdosta, family dog, Oreo, one son and daughter in law, Daniel and Denise Carter of Alabama, grandsons and their wives, Dennis Carter of Valdosta, David and Elise Carter of Alabama, Duane and Jennifer Carter of Valdosta, Dean Carter of Georgia, 9-great grandchildren, Christopher Carter, Kayley Carter, Tristen Carter all of Texas, Erin Carter, Caty Carter both of Valdosta, Victoria Carter and Jennifer Marie Carter both of Ray City, Stephanie Carter and Ashlynn Carter both of Alabama, five brothers and sisters in law, Edward and Jean Carter, Donald and Virginia Carter all of Flatwood, KY., George and Virginia Carter of Raceland, KY., Billy and Marlene Carter of Russell, KY., Benny and Jean Carter of Flatwood, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Carter.

Funeral services will be held at 12:10 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2005 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father John O’Brien officiating. A rosary will be held at 6pm, Sunday, October 30, 2005 at the McLane Funeral Home with visitation following the rosary service.
