Lena Dykes Bosch, 86, of Valdosta died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at her home. She was born on December 31, 1933 in Valdosta to the late Clifton and Icyphene Parrish Dykes.
Lena lived life to the fullest and loved people. She met and married the love of her life while administrating for Mahogany Investors at the ripe age of 19 in Belize, British Honduras. She never met a stranger and was known for her culinary expertise, especially her pimento cheese and Kahlua cakes.
Lena was a member of the Dasher Church of Christ and the Valdosta Rotary Club. She was a founding member of the Annette Howell Center for the Arts and former president of the Chamber of Commerce. She was the first female to serve as President of the Georgia Automobiles Dealers Association. Lena was a torch carrier for the Olympics in 1996.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Bart and Anita Bosch of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Taylor Bosch of Roswell, GA and Carly Bosch of Wadley, GA; her sister and brother in law, Nan and Johnnie Dasher of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Bosch, a sister, Martha Sue Warren and a brother, James Ira (Jimmy) Dykes.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Mr. David Nelson officiating.
