Leland Quarterman Linahan, Jr., 57, of Valdosta, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on April 30, 1950 in Remerton to Mary Harris Linahan and the late Leland Quarterman Linahan, Sr. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections where he had served as Warden at Valdosta State Correctional Institute, Rutledge Correctional Institution in Columbus, and Georgia State Women's Prison in Hardwick. He graduated from Lowndes High School, attended Valdosta State College where he received an undergraduate degree in Psychology and also received his Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling at Valdosta State University. Mr. Linahan was a member of Forrest Street Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Bellflowers Linahan of Valdosta; daughters, Terri Kay Linahan and her companion, Greg Morris of Atlanta, Kristi and her husband, Russ Sanders of Athens and Lauren Leigh Linahan of Valdosta, his mother, Mary Harris Linahan of Valdosta, brother, Thomas P. Linahan of Valdosta, brother and sister in law, Willie J. and Pam Linahan of Hahira, sister and brother in law, Wanda and David Carter of Salt Lake City, Utah, brother and sister in law, Robert and Kay Linahan of Hahira, numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, February 17, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
