Leila Stalvey Moore, 92, of Ray City died on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Lakeland Villa Nursing Home in Lakeland, Georgia. She was born in Lowndes County on January 4, 1917 to the late John and Ellen Cowart Stalvey. She worked for 25 years in a maternity shop in Jacksonville. She has been a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church since 1949.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, John Leland and Margaret Stalvey of Valdosta and Arlie and Jane Stalvey of Orlando, Florida; a son-in-law, Joe C. Joseph of Keystone Heights, Florida; three grandchildren and their spouses, Teresa and Gary Smith of Middleburg, Florida, Pamela and Terry Minor of Keystone Heights, Florida, and Joe A. and Shawn Joseph of Las Vegas, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Warren Moore; her only child, a daughter, B. Winona Moore Joseph; four brothers and five sisters.
Services for Leila Stalvey Moore will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Bob Dickerson, Elder Jim Sandlin and Elder Thad Marshall officiating. The burial will follow in the Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
