Lawrence Richard Murphy, Sr.

Lawrence Richard Murphy, Sr., 66, of Quitman, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 at Shand’s Hospital after a short illness and went to be with his Lord and Saviour. His loving and devoted wife and family was at his side. Mr. Murphy worked at Country Inn and Suites in Valdosta for six years. He was very loving and loyal to his friends, family and people he didn’t know and would never turn anyone away that needed help. He loved his new lawn mower and took care of peoples lawns whether they paid or not. Always a fun loving guy who never took things to serious or held grudges. He loved his cats, Spookey, Zeus, Mineau, Scooter and fed every stray that came to his house to stay. He found himself at the Christ Episcopal Church and loved the way he was welcomed with such a family atmosphere. He will be truly missed by all but know that he is in a better place.

Mr. Murphy was born on July 19, 1941 in Gardiner, Maine to the late Charles Steven and Audrey Cox Murphy and is survived by his wife, Beulah Murphy of Quitman, three sons, Jeffrey Crocker of Quitman, Larry Murphy, Jr. and Christopher Murphy of Augusta, Maine, two daughters, Carrie Lord of Oakland, Maine and Lisa Timpave of South Portland, Maine, grandchildren, Stacy Young, Robert Young, Matthew Murphy, Shannon Murphy, Kyle Murphy and Stephen Timpave, great grandchildren, Cameron Young, Emma Murphy, Kayda Murphy and Justin Murphy, brothers, Fred Jewel, Bob Jewel and Michael Murphy, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by a son, Shawn Murphy.

Memorial services will be held Friday, December 21, 2007 at two p. m. at Christ Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parish hall. Inurnment will be at Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
