Lawrence A. Porter, 72 of Lake Park died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was born on Novmeber 27, 1940 in Lake Park to the late Milledge G. and Evelyn Kinsey Porter and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Porter attended the Antioch Church in Echols County and was a retired electrician with PCS Phosphate.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Lawrence Allen, Jr. and Stacey Porter of Lake Park, two daughters and a son in law, Laura Ann Porter, Leslie Elaine and Thomas Keen all of Valdosta, his grandchildren, Dalton Samuel Keen of Valdosta, Joshua Porter, Jessica Porter both of Lake Park, six sisters and two brothers in law, Wanda Gail Porter Swilley and Johnny Swilley of Valdosta, Carolyn Porter Nutt of Waynesboro, TN, Sue Porter Plair of Hahira, Linda Porter Ealy and Rudy Ealy of Sherwood, Ark., Libby Porter of Alger, AL, Debra Grace Porter of Atlanta, one brother and sister in law, Benjamin F. and Margaret Porter of Lake Park, several nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Marie Porter and Mary Frances Porter Hickman.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mickey Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, 3119 W. Marion Ave., Lake Park, GA 31636.
