Lawanna Corbett Futch, 80, of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in Echols County on February 11, 1937 to the late Jesse Corbett and Flora Carter Corbett and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Those who knew her, knew of her fun-loving nature, her ability to never meet a stranger, and her love for her Lord.
Survivors include two daughters sons-in-law, Carolyn and Allen Blanton of Lake Park, and Lisa and Jerry Chitty of Echols, County, Georgia; her son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Ashley Futch of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Roni McGilvray of Echols County, Lacee and Michael Lasseter of Valdosta, Luke Blanton, of Valdosta, Walker Blanton of Lake Park, Hayden Futch and Riley Futch both of Valdosta; great-grandchildren, Christian McGilvray, Cayde McGilvray, Braxton McGilvray, Perry McGilvray, and Elleigh Mae Lasseter; four siblings, Louis Corbett of Echols County, Chester Corbett of Lake Park, Charles and Evelyn Corbett of Echols County, and Gayle Adams of Coffee County; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Matthew Futch, Sr., and two brothers, Jesse Corbett, Jr. and James Corbett.
Services for Lawanna Futch will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Corbett, Rev. W. Harold McLeod, and Rev. Edgar Wood officiating. The burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
