Lavinia Coody Hammock, 86, of Valdosta died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Lowndes County on April 24, 1930 to the late Richard A. and Mattie Zipperer Coody. Mrs. Hammock was a member of the Clyattville United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, quilting, spending time in the mountains and her family.
Survivors include her sons and daughters in law, Hiram and Phyllis Hammock of Golden, CO, Lowell and Temple Hammock of Clyattville, Ed and Chris Hammock of Sylvester; two daughters and sons in law, Lani and Bill Haddock of Clyattville, Sherry and Jim Love of Frisco, TX; 12-grandchildren, Joe (Karen) Hammock of Hudson, CO, Dan (Laura) Hammock of Genessee, CO, Aaron (Susan) Haddock of Waycross, Saralyn (Chris) Singletary of Hahira, Alison (Greg) LeBlanc of Hahira, Michael (Lisa) Dambacher of Frisco, TX, Julie (Garvie) Nichols of Enigma, Clayton (Janet) Hammock of Auburn, AL, Lindsey (Blanton) Tessin of Sterrett, AL, Rebecca (Tommy) Casey of Hahira, Whitney (Daniel) Jacobs of Crestview, FL, Tyler (Mikka) Hammock of Sarasota, FL; 19-great grandchildren; 3-great great grandchildren; her sister, Maxine Cothron of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews; her brother in law, Clair Fletcher of Lake Park; two sisters in law, Gladys Coody of Valdosta and Lounette Langworthy of Williston, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 54 years, Mance Hammock; five brothers, Grover Coody, L.T. Coody, Buddy Coody, Howard Coody and Joe Coody and seven sisters, Mamie Lou Speer, Agnes Redish, Mattie Clyde Allbritton, Eunice Thompson, Marie Aschenbrenner, Mary Foster and Vernita Fletcher.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 19, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Bishop and Rev. Bob Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, 2215 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
