Mrs. LeVera Futch Allen, 87, a cherished resident of Valdosta, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on January 7, 1937, in McAlpin, FL, to the late Jacob Alfred Futch and Vera Hingson Futch, Mrs. LeVera's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, dedication, and service. She married Mr. James Henry Allen in Valdosta in the mid-1950s and shared a life filled with adventures due to their Army career.
Mrs. LeVera dedicated her life to the Lord, her family, and her country. She was a devoted homemaker, tending to her family with love, all the while nurturing her passions for gardening, fishing, cooking and enjoying time outdoors. Her warmth and caring nature extended beyond her home as she dedicated nearly 40 years to Eastern Heights Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, going on mission trips, and providing aid to those in need.
Mrs. LeVera is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Christie Allen; daughter Rhonda Jan Allen; grandchildren Tony (Ashley) Allen, Ryan (Camille) Reiter, Aaron Allen, Hank (Ashley) Allen, Brett Perrin, McKayla (Jonathan) Elgert, Katelyn Allen, Jessica Presley Allen; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Shirley Futch; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Allen; sons James Lerry Allen and Alfred Newton Allen; daughter Vera Susan Reiter; son-in-law Allen Tillman; and eight siblings.
A funeral service honoring Mrs. LeVera's life will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home, followed by burial in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:30 pm.
