Lavan Selph King, 85, of Hiawassee and formerly of Valdosta died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. She was born on November 14, 1929 in Valdosta to the late Harlow W. and Georgia Bell McCranie Selph and had lived in Valdosta all of her life before moving to Hiawassee two years ago. Mrs. King worked as a clerk with Barnes Drug Store for thirty years and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Stephen T. and Kathy King of Hiawassee, GA; her grandchildren and their spouses; Michael and Meredith King of Bristol, VA, Jeremy and Nicole King of Woodstock, GA, David Copeland of Bristol, VA, Sherry and Joey Parker of Hahira, GA; six great grandsons, Tucker King, Noah King, Jackson King, Hunter Parker, Tyler Parker and Trevor Parker; her son in law, Pete Owen of Sevierville, TN and her sister in law, Nellie Selph of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson T. King, a daughter, Patricia Copeland Owen and a brother, John W. Selph.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Mr. Pete Owen officiating.
