Laura Mae Waller Stalvey, 84, of Hahira, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Emory University Hospital in Decatur, GA after a short illness. She was born in Cecil, GA on September 25, 1923 to the late Hugh Waller and Irene Waller (Durley). Mrs. Stalvey was a homemaker, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and retired from the Hahira Elementary School Cafeteria. She devoted her life to her family and her church and she greatly enjoyed working in her garden and fishing.
Mrs. Stalvey is survived by one daughter, Lorene Bass of Valparaiso, FL, one son and daughter in law, John H. and Lynda Stalvey of Hahira, one brother and sister in law, James F. and Evelyn Waller of Cecil, eight grandchildren, Scott Bass of Ottsville, PA, Gregory Bass of Raleigh, NC, Lisa Ray (Charlie) of Gulfport, MS, Paula Wyatt (Tommy) of Richmond Hill, GA, Cindy Harnage (Lenn) of Valdosta, Cassie Hendricks (Lee) of Minot, ND, Jim Stalvey (Amy) of Thomasville, John Stalvey (Allison) of Atlanta, ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Marvin Stalvey, son in law, Jerry Bass, sister, Ruth Willis and brother, Edward Waller.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30, 2008 at ten a. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Ike Jefferson Officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.
