Lauder T. McVey, 83, went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2007. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 7, 1924 to Belle and Lauder Tully. As a young child he moved to Juneau, Alaska and remained in Alaska until 1947. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He and the former Clara Chason of Tallahassee, FL were married in Juneau in 1946 and moved to Florida in 1947 to attend the University of Florida where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He moved to Valdosta, GA to work for National Container, which eventually became Packaging Cooperation of America. He retired as a Senior Project Engineer on December 1, 1996.
He was a faithful member of Lee Street Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA where he served as a deacon, President of the Brotherhood and raised two sons who became Baptist pastors. Since January 2006 he has lived in Brunswick, GA and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Clara McVey, son and daughter in law, Scott and Jackie, granddaughters, Abbie and Hannah all of Brunswick, GA; son and daughter in law, Mac and Lucy McVey, grandson and wife, Tully and Mindy McVey; great grandsons, Lauder and Hudson McVey all of Round Rock, TX; grandson Chason McVey of Palm Beach, FL; sister, Kay Gray and brother, Robert Dilg of Juneau, Alaska.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.on Monday, July 30, 2007 in the chapel at Carson McLane Funeral Home with entombment at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL. Rev. Lauder T. McVey, Jr. and Rev. Scott McVey will officiate the services. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 29, 2007 from 4-6 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
