Larry W. Greene

Larry W. Greene, Sr. 64, of Lake Park, died on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of this area, Mr. Greene was born in Valdosta to the late Harris S. & Annie Mae Crumbley Greene. Mr. Greene attended Valdosta High School where he played football from 1957 – 1959. He had served in the Navy and was retired from Southern Bag Company. Mr. Greene was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Greene, of Lake Park; a daughter and son in law, Claudette & Richard Jackson of Tallahassee; and a son and daughter in law, Larry W. & Wendi Lee Wilder Greene, of Lake Park; three grandchildren, Ashlea, Heather & Anslie Jackson, all of Tallahassee. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers in law, Margaret & Lonnie E. Davis, and Helen & Lee V. (Bud) Sowell, all of Valdosta, and Dorothy Stephenson of Waycross; two brothers and one sister in law, Harris S. Jr. & Jane Greene of Adel, and Harry E. Greene of Waverly Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Greene is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Greene.

Funeral services for Mr. Greene will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Corinth Baptist Church. Dr. Henry Cannington and Rev. Tom Rush will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Lake Park on Monday evening, March 14, 2005 from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Healthcare Hospice, 1001 Williams St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
