Larry Stephen Cason

Larry Stephen Cason, 71, of Lakeland, died on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Kennesaw, Georgia on January 26, 1952, to the late John Anderson Cason, Jr. and Bertha Kennison Cason. Larry retired from Belk’s after 38 years of service and worked as manager of the men’s clothing department. He received the Award of Excellence during his tenure at Belk. He made many connections through the customers he served and the various clothiers and distributors for his department, if you needed the perfect fit for a suit, he was your guy. Larry never met a stranger and was known for being a sharp dresser. His outgoing and gregarious nature led to many close friendships in both his private and professional life. Larry loved the great outdoors from fishing, to hunting on Blackbeard Island, camping on Cumberland Island, and spending time and hanging out with his friends at the lodge. He was of the Baptist faith.

Larry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janice Cason of Lakeland, Georgia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and David Latham of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and Stacy and Andy Reid of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Jake Austin Reid, Andi Kate Reid, William Reid, Ethan Latham, Chloe Latham; his mother, Bertha Cason, and a sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Pat Kinstle all of Waverly, Georgia. In addition to his father, he was preceded by his sister, Leah Cason.

A memorial service for Larry Cason will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
