Larry Shriner, 75, of Valdosta, died on Monday, April 20, 2020 at Emory University Hospital. Born on March 4, 1945 to the late Roy Eugene & Opal Mae Shriner in Clinton, MO. He has lived in this area for the past 9 years. Larry attended Mississippi State University, while there he began a career in commercial aviation. He flew planes for Mississippi State for several years before flying for several other groups during his career. He concluded his 40-year piloting career flying cargo for UPS. Larry had several hobbies to include golfing, fly fishing with his wife and tracking the stock market, but he especially loved spending time with his wife, kids and other family members. A member of Crossroads Baptist Church, he was also devoted to his Savior and faith.
Larry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wendy Jenkins Shriner of Valdosta, four children and their three spouses, Melanie & Paul Miller of Charlottesville, VA, Stephanie & Steve Wampler of Maggie Valley, NC, and Chris & Michelle Shriner of Spotsylvania, VA and Hana Shriner of Valdosta; and a brother and sister in law, Darrel & Carol Shriner of Clinton, MO.
The family will host a private memorial service for Larry. They look forward to having a larger memorial service when circumstances permit. Larry was an advocate for organ donation and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
