Larry Haney, 54, of Dothan, Alabama and formerly of Valdosta died Friday, November 18, 2011 at his home. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 12, 1957 to Easter Jane Freeman Haney and the late Roy Alexandria Haney and had lived in Dothan since 1994. Mr. Haney was a member of Harvest Church and Manager of Dothan Easy Finance in Enterprise, Alabama. He attended Lowndes High School and Valdosta High School and later attended Wiregrass Technical College where obtained his GED and LPN Degree. Mr. Haney worked for Dr. Gerald Light at the Dialysis Center, South Georgia Medical Center and Greenleaf Center. He loved riding his motorcycles with his family and friends. He was involved with the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program and Toys for Tots with Harley Davidson Hog Group. He loved animals and was a foster parent for pets with Wiregrass Humane Society and Dothan Animal Shelter.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Haney, son, Richard Haney, daughters, Alicia Haney and Miranda Haney, grandson, Gabriel Benton all of Dothan, Alabama, three brothers and two sisters in law, Phillip and Olive Haney of Garland, TX., Don Haney of San Angelo, TX., Terry and Barbara Haney of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Deborah and Dean Sharpe of Hahira, brother in law and sister in law, Terry and Carol Hershberger of Duncanville, TX., nieces and nephews, Brian (Jennifer) Haney, Troy Haney, Olivia Haney, Wesley Haney, Lance (Kaitlyn) Haney, David (Amanda) Haney, Alex (Whitney) Sharpe, Jason (Allison) Sharpe, Sarah (John) Henderson, Amy (Nicholas) Canales, Brent (Debbie) Hershberger, numerous great nieces and great nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents in law, Glenn and Ada Hershberger and a sister in law, Joyce Bartz.
A Funeral was held at 3pm, Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Gerry Russo officiating. Entombment followed at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family received friends on Monday, November 21 from 6-8pm at the funeral home in Valdosta.
A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Harvest Church in Dothan, AL (2727 Fortner St). The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 until service time.
