Larry Dowling

Larry Dowling, 66, of Valdosta, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.

He was born April 6, 1946 in Valdosta, a son of Leon L. and Jesse Pearl Moore Dowling, and graduated from Lowndes County High School and Valdosta State College. Larry was a U.S. Navy and Viet Nam veteran. He greatly enjoyed and felt very rewarded in his position at the Georgia Department of Labor through the people that he assisted and worked with.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Caroline Dowling; two grandsons; his father, Leon L. Dowling of Valdosta; a nephew, Tony and wife Pat Walker of Waycross; an uncle, Leonard Dowling of Deland, FL; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Warren of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jesse Pearl Dowling; his sister, Martha Elaine Warren; and a niece, Tammy Walker.

In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation will take place. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Private interment will take place at the Joe Howell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to a charity of your choice.
