Lamar W. McKee, 81, of Hahira, died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Bailey, Mississippi on February 20, 1932 to the late Levi Wesley and Willie Mae Williamson McKee. Mr. McKee was retired from Davis Air Conditioning. He was a well loved and respected husband, father and grandfather. Mr. McKee was a faithful and longtime member of Greenwood Baptist Church where he served as an usher and on the properties committee. He was famous for his delicious bar b que chicken.
Mr. McKee is survived by his wife of nearly fifty seven years, Peggy McKee of Hahira, son and daughter in law, Danny and Kae McKee, daughter and son in law, Kathy and Jimmy Cleary all of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, Tracy and Salome McKee of Hahira and daughter and son in law, Tammy and Joey Barrett of Pine Mountain, GA, thirteen grandchildren, Nic Sinkule (Lachrisha), Erin Mackie (Erik), Wesley McKee, Christopher Cleary, Jana Moots (Will), Will McKee, Trey McKee, Nickie McKee, Allie Hughes, Brittney Wiggins, Zachary Douthit, Ella Barrett and Javen Barrett, four great grandchildren, Edward Mackie, Jennifer McKee, Will Moots III and Elisa Moots, three nephews, Darrel McKee, Wesley Belk and Horace Belk.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at eleven a. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Michael Bass, Reverend Sammy Reaves and Reverend Chip Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
