Lamar M. (L.M.) Tomlinson

LAMAR M. (L. M.) TOMLINSON, 89, of Valdosta died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the Smith Northview Hospital. He was born on February 5, 1916 in Echols County to the late Ben and Luther Rachel Howell Tomlinson and had lived in Lowndes County for many years. Mr. Tomlinson was a member of the Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a retired farmer and had served on the Lowndes County Board of Education for many years.

Survivors include five daughters and sons in law, Rosalyn and Al Read of Valdosta, Joy and Gary Meyer of Stillwater, OK., Ivey and Mike Clanton of Brunswick, Marsha and Steve Wetherington of Hurricane, WVA., Margie and John Crane of Myrtle Beach, SC., five sons and six daughters in law, Tommy and Judy Tomlinson of Melrose, Fla., Don and Donna Tomlinson of Quincy, Fla., Harry and Linda Tomlinson of Myrtle Beach, SC., Lyle and Leanna Tomlinson of Morrow, OH., Terry Tomlinson of Atlanta, Betty Tomlinson of Dublin, 20-grandchildren, 13-great grandchildren, one brother and sister in law, J. D. and Johnnie Lee Tomlinson of Mayday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Stalvey Tomlinson, two sons, Luther Tomlinson and John Wayne Tomlinson and two grandsons, Ryan Tomlinson and Perry Clanton and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church with the Elder Bob Dickerson, Elder Dwight Marshall, Elder Thad Marshall and Elder Jim Sandlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
