Lacy C. Connell, Jr., 87, of Valdosta went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. He was born in Berrien County, Georgia on May 3, 1925 to the late Lacy C., Sr. and Thelma Cannon Connell. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where he had served as Chairman of the Deacons, Chairman of the General Services Committee and the Master Building Committee and had served many other areas of the church. Mr. Connell was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. He loved fishing and baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Connell of Valdosta, two sons and a daughter in law, Eric and Brenda Connell of Valdosta, Carl Connell of Tallahassee, FL, daughter and son in law, Delores and Bill Harmeyer of Zephyrhills, FL., stepdaughter and step son in law, Margaret and Bob Jared of Hillsboro, TN, stepson, Keith Davidson of Lawrenceville, GA, grandchildren, Eric, Jr. (Eva) Connell, Jessica Connell, Katelyn Connell, James Taylor, Carl DeLoach, Brittany (Joel ) Combs, Jordan Davidson, Kellan Beck, Emily (Matt) Rogers, Joseph (Emily) Jared, great grandchildren, Lisa Connell, Lukas Sean Connell, Christian Beck, Callie Combs, Kenley Combs, two sisters and brother in law, Evelyn Davis of Ft. Pierce, FL, Jannelle and Bill Thompson of St. Augustine, FL, sisters in law, Leta Mae Folsom and Rosalind Folsom both of Valdosta, special friends, Vernon and Juanita Davis of Howell, GA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynette Folsom Connell, stepson, Steve Davidson and three brothers in law, Charlie Davis, S. G. Folsom and Gene Folsom.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Pitt and Rev. Douglas M. Reddick officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Rev. Bob Jared will conduct the graveside services.
