L. S. Daniels

L. S. Daniels, 97, of Quitman, died on Friday October 25, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Born in Thomasville on May 4, 1916 to the late James Thomas & Alma Cobb Daniels, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Daniels briefly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, then, having grown up on a farm in Thomasville, he continued his farming career for several years after the war. In the early 1950's, Mr. Daniels moved with his family to Valdosta and initially was a candy salesman. He went on to become an insurance salesman with Peninsular Life Insurance Company and worked for about 15 years prior to his retirement in the mid 1970's. After his retirement, he and Mrs. Daniels enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling for many years prior to her death in 2007. He was a member of Bemis Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Deborah & George Larko of Stockbridge, three sons and two daughters in law, Larry& Gloria Daniels of Hahira, Ronnie & Jeneane Daniels of Forsyth, and Bruce Daniels of Warner Robbins. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mr. Daniel is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mamie Lou Kinsey Daniels, two sons, Sidney Daniels and Billy Daniels and 9 brothers and sisters.

A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Daniels at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Rev. John Harrington will officiate.
