Kristin Suzanne Ganas

April 5, 1974 — May 19, 2018

Kristin Suzanne Ganas, 44, of Valdosta, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at her home after a sudden illness. She was born in Valdosta on April 5, 1974 to Joe & Joyce Ganas. Kristin grew up in Valdosta and as a child, developed a love for dancing. She was a member of Gerlock Dance Studios from age 4 until her graduation from Valdosta High School in 1992. During high school she was a member of the Valdosta Marching Wildcats Dance Team. She attended and graduated from Valdosta State University in the mid 1990’s with a degree in Accounting and Finance. Her first job after college was at the Valdosta Daily Times. In 2018, just a few weeks ago, she received her Master’s Degree from VSU in Business Administration. After graduating from VSU the first time, she worked for several years at Bank of America. She then briefly worked for Henderson Godbee, CPA’s, before taking a job in the accounting department at South Georgia Medical Center where she worked for 7 years. Growing up, Kristin won the Junior Miss Valdosta in the late 1980’s, was a Past President of the Valdosta Junior Women’s Club, and really loved her animals, doting on her current poodle, Joey. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Joe & Joyce Ganas of Valdosta; her brother and sister in law, Brett & Cindy Ganas of Watkinsville; her fiancé, Jeff Ballentine of Jacksonville; five nieces and nephews, Will Ganas of Valdosta, Kate Ganas, Ethan Ganas, Emma Ganas & Brody Ganas, all of Watkinsville, and special uncle and aunt, Ben & LaVonne Copeland. Also surviving are numerous aunts & uncles and cousins, all of whom she dearly loved.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Valdosta. Rev. Mac Weaver & Rev. Chuck Owens will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Valdosta/Lowndes County Humane Society.
