Kirby Hemby, 70, of Valdosta died on Monday, September 3, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Columbus, Georgia on August 17, 1942 to the late Cecil Thomas Hemby and Beatrice Owens Hemby Strickland. For the last 30 years he has been the owner and operator of Valdosta Motorcycle Accessories. He was a licensed private pilot and held memberships in the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America, Model A Owners Club, and the Pierce Arrow Society. Mr. Hemby was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Janie Hemby of Lake Park; a daughter and son-in-law, Lea and Jerome Bode of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Harley and Abbey Warren also of Valdosta; his brother, Wesley Strickland of Columbus, Georgia; his beloved dog, Molly; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Hart and a brother, Frank Hemby.
