Kim Copeland

October 19, 1959 — March 18, 2015

Kim Copeland, 55, of Valdosta died suddenly, on March 18, 2015 at her residence. Born in Bainbridge on October 19, 1959, she moved to Valdosta at an early age. Kim attended Valdosta High School graduating in 1977 where she played the clarinet in the Marching Cats Band. After high school, she worked briefly at South Georgia Medical Center as a Radiology Tech. She met her future husband, Earl, in the mid 1980's in the automotive business and they were married in March of 1990. Mrs. Copeland was a devoted homemaker and she cared deeply for her family- for her husband, parents, step children and sister. She also loved animals, especially the stray cats and dogs that she found or came up to the house. Earlier in her life she cared for horses and more recently took care of their cows on the family farm. She was a member of Forest Park Church of Christ.
Mrs. Copeland is survived by her husband of 25 years, Earl Copeland of Valdosta; three daughters and sons in law, Gina & Justin Reynolds, of Jacksonville, FL, Kimberly & Bill Pate of Cordele, and Nancie & Jonathan Geddings of Charleston, SC; her father, Jack Cotterly of Valdosta; her sister and brother in law, Charlotte & John Rowe of Augusta; three grandchildren, Jessica Willis of Valdosta, Tyler Willis of Jacksonville, and Will Pate of Cordele. She is also survived by two nieces, Missy (Greg) Ford and Angie Childree all of Augusta; a close friend, Donna White and several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nina Cotterly.
A funeral for Mrs. Copeland will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Ray Joyner will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, March 20, 2015. Cremation will follow the services. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or the Georgia Bible Camp, P.O. 3605, Valdosta, GA 31604.
