Kenneth S. Kirkland, 91, of Valdosta died Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Newville, Alabama on September 11, 1928 to the late John Carlton and Sally Holland Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland lived in Lynn Haven, Florida for many years before moving to Valdosta four years ago. He was a member of the Lynn Haven First Baptist Church and attended Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta. Mr. Kirkland was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired engineer with Bayline Railroad after forty two years of service. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and amateur radio.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Becky and Chris Tone of Valdosta; his granddaughter, Heather Tone of Valdosta; his grandson, Jason and Emily Tone of Anderson, SC; his great granddaughter, Jordan Tone, his great grandson, Isaac Tone; a cousin, Nan and Claude Pike of Andulasia, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merriel Glover Kirkland and two brothers, Roscoe Kirkland and Johnny Kirkland.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Friday, February 28, 2020 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Woods officiating. Burial will be in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3-4pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602.
